Just back from a coast-to-coast road trip - with bike in the back seat - to Sea Otter Classic 2025 bike fest, April 10-13, now the largest bike event in the US.
The next set of blogs will be about favorite bike safety products I saw at the Otter, and Radian's Wingman clearly stood out as a shining example of unique innovation.
The seat post-mounted Wingman, circled above, uses proprietary Prizmatic Optimization technology to bounce back active car object-detecting sensors, like radar, camera-vision systems and LIDAR (Light detection and ranging), to make those sensors recognize a Wingman-equipped bicycle as if it were another car, even to the point of activating the car's braking system in the event the driver is not able to avoid colliding with the cyclist.
Beyond talking about how Breitz! wear and the Wingman can both improve cycling safety, Radian's founder/owner, Kevin McMahon, and I spoke about developing a transportation industry-wide "Crash-Free Roads" initiative to supplement existing rules, regulations and enforcement policies to help bend the curve down on all traffic crashes that over the past two years, 2023/2024, have taken the lives of almost 40,000/year and injured much more than ten times that number in the US alone.
More about that effort as it evolves, but in the meantime, please do check out Radian's Wingman by clicking this link or the picture above.
Next up: a new line of electrically enhanced kids's balance bikes
