Here's an email I sent to Hickory and NCDOT officials 2 days after our BikeWalkNC North Carolina State Legislature Lobby Day May 6.
Good morning Team Hickory Plus,
Had a productive talk with our State Senator Mark Hollo this Tuesday during BikeWalkNC’s State Legislature Lobby Day about both his initiative to improve the “5 Points” intersection in downtown Conover as shown here…

…and the 4th St./City Walk Intersection below that expands rapidly from two to four lanes both from the north and south within a block of that intersection.

Sen. Hollo has secured state senate funding to make safety improvements to the “5 Points” Conover intersection and would like to meet with a team of Hickory City and NCDOT officials to discuss plans to improve safe driver and active mobility (walk, run, bike and more) passage through our 4th St./City Walk intersection.
Please let me know a date and time to coordinate a combined team meeting with Sen. Hollo in Hickory.
Look forward to hearing back from you.
Best,
Bruce
I'll keep you post on progress!
